CANMORE
Canmore is the town in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains in the west of Calgary. This town is well known for its craggy summits like Ha Ling Peak and the three sisters. Grassi Lakes Trail weaves past waterfall to two turquoise blue lakes in the nearby Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park.
Population and Demographics:
Statistics Canada conducted the 2016 census of population and recorded the population of 13,992 individuals. While 50% were inhabitants of 7,963 total private dwellings. There was an increase of 13.9% in population from 2011. In 2016 this town had a population density of 201.5 per kilometer square with the land area of 69.43-kilometer square. The 2014 municipal census recorded that the town has a population of 13,077 with a change of 6% from 2011. This town is eligible for the city status as it is one of the largest towns in the province. According to Alberta’s Municipal Government Act, when a town has a population of 10,000 residents it becomes eligible for city status. In the 2011 census of the population, the town has a population of 12,288 inhabitants out of which 5,176 live in 7,973 of total dwellings, a change of 2.1% in the population of 2006.
Educational background:
Under the Post-Secondary Learning Act of Alberta, the Bow Valley College is a public board-governed College and is operating as a Comprehensive Community institution. This college has campuses in Banff, Cochrane, Okotoks, High River, Airdrie and Strathmore. This college is a member of the Alberta Rural Department Network and also the institutes and colleges Canada. One of the famous universities in the town is Thompson Rivers University which was founded as Cariboo College in 1970. This was one institution in two-year network community colleges that was created in British Columbia so that they can improve their post-secondary training and education.
Communities and Culture:
The locals of town offer a marvelous sense of belonging and the real estate of Canmore also offers a great sense of community particularly in the new developments such as Creek Mountain Village. The Benchlands area consists of 2 long roads on the valley’s northern side. Canyon Ridge is one of the smallest neighborhoods in the community and is present just off Cougar Creek’s eastern side. There are many important festivals and annual events in Canmore. These festivals include an award-winning food festival, the Canmore winter carnival and many more.
