Whitby is a town located in Durham Region which is in southern Ontario and on north side of lake.
Elementary and High Schools
Many elementary and secondary schools are present in this town. Students often travel to area of greater Toronto to get education in colleges and universities. Whitby has almost 24 English medium public schools and 12 Catholic schools. There are some Montessori schools for those children whose parents are in search of an alternative way of education.
Hospitals in this area
This is one of the largest towns of Canada but still it has less of medical facilities. There is no full service hospital. Whitby General Hospital was serving the residents of this town until 1998. Afterwards, there were Durham Hospitals by Lakeridge Health Corporation under amalgamated system. Due to this system, hospitals were changed into a specialized health center named as Lakeridge Health Whitby.
Ontario Shores Center is located on lakefront for Mental Health Sciences. This was originally known as Whitby Mental Health Centre and Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. Durham Region EMS plays a vital role in case of an emergency as it provides first aid medical services and ambulance. Firefighting services are also provided by this region for extinguishing fire. Durham Regional police’s central division is guarding the residents of this town. Whitby also has facility of detached Ontario Provincial Police present in the town.

There are many parks and ways for tourists and residents in the town. Visitors experience nature’s marvels in the environment while moving across these parks. This town has 125 parks along with the 950 acres of active parkland while they also have passive space of more than 1000 acres for open space and beaches. This town has a long trail of almost 60 km.
Whitby is one of the best places of Canada to live free, relax, calm, active and foe the enjoyment in leisure time. Whitby is famous for Lynda Shores Conservation Area as it is unique real experience of nature in outdoor. It is near to home of local nesting birds and is a famous stopover for both shorebirds and waterfowl.
