Nanaimo

It is located on the Southeast shore of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is well known with the name of The Harbour City. Due to its design or layout uniquely designed in the form of a hub device that has connections in different directions or radiations emerging outward, it is also known as the Hub City. It has a temperate climate and has rainy, dry, warm summers and mild winters. Nanaimo is also called a port city.

It has a population of 90,560 residents. There are total 40.,886 number of private dwellings out of which 95 percent are occupied by the residents that mean about 39,165 are filled with peoples. Nanaimo approximately owns 82 percent European, 2.2 percent South Asian, 2.6 percent Chinese and 2 percent are Southeast Asian. About 8.4 percent are aboriginal peoples. 88.6 percent of residents have selected English as their mother language. Other common languages Punjabi, French, German, and Chinese.

About half of the population of city do not practice any religion. In digits this value is 51.7 percent which is greater than the national ratio that is 23.9 percent. Among peoples who are practicing any religion, most common are Christians that are 44.7 percent. Sikhs are also in the community and Buddhists are also living here.

School District 68 Nanaimo-Ladysmith operates the public schools in the region. There are about 30 elementary and secondary schools in Nanaimo under the administration of this school district. Some private schools are present in the region. Aspengrove School is a school that provides education from kindergarten to grade 12 and is regarded as an International Baccalaureate school. This school offers IB diploma, IB Middle years, IB Primary years. It also secured 10 out of 10 by the IBO in the year of 2011.

Two Francophone schools are also working and operated by Conseil scolaire francophone. Vancouver Island University also has a main campus in Nanaimo that attracts many students specifically Asian students to Nanaimo.
