This neighborhood is also known as the “Hospital area” by its residents. For those people who are looking for an established and conveniently located community, Nanaimo is the best choice. Everything is present in its proximity either you want to go for the grocery or you want to have coffee with your friends, colleagues, and family. You can enjoy the cool breeze here in the morning and evening stroll. Nanaimo General Hospital and other medical services, all are in the proximity. Downtown Nanaimo is also on the short drive.
Hammond Bay
It starts from the center of Nanaimo and moves towards North of it. It is on the East coastline of the city. This neighborhood is extremely popular among locals and tourists equally. Facts:
This is the city that was founded because of necessity, not for its beauty. Coal is taken from this place. This coal was even transported to the Victoria through the canoe. Even the Royal Navy used coal from Nanaimo. In past tunnels were used to travel and transport coal. Nearly all the tunnels are flooded, there are just remnants found.
