West Vancouver
It is a district municipality of British Columbia. West Vancouver is located between the magnificent North mountains to the North and Burrard Inlet to the South. It is a family-oriented community. In the East of this community, there is a glorious Capilano River and in the west, there is an ocean-front community of Lion’s Bay.
Altamont
Altamont is in the center of West Vancouver. It has Canada’s most expensive real estate. There is an eclectic mix of old and newly constructed homes. West Bay Elementary and West Vancouver Secondary Schools are on the walking distance in the area. Altamont Beach Park, restaurants, and shops are also on the short walk.
Ambleside
Along the West Vancouver waterfront, there is expansive Ambleside Park. There are a variety of leisure and people-watching activities in the Ambleside. It has a diverse community of seniors, students, and professionals. Along the marine drive, there is a cluster of shops. It is known as the “town center” of West Vancouver. The main drag of West Vancouver is Marine Drive.
Bay ridge
Bay ridge is the finest family community in West Vancouver. This neighborhood is well known for its schools, friendly neighbors, and meandering streets. Trails and parks are also present for its residents. Historic Mckechnie Park is in the heart of Bay Ridge. The locals can walk with their dogs, have a serene picnic, and can play a game of tennis. This neighborhood has some best vantage points of all West Vancouver.
Gleneagles
It is in the Western region of West Vancouver. It provides easy access to the local trails, Gleneagles Golf Course, and Horseshoe Bay. There are many things to do in this area and one will never get bored. There is a gymnasium offered by the Gleneagles Community Centre. This gymnasium has a ceiling of 40 feet and has an abundance of natural light. Gleneagles Elementary School is the smallest elementary school in West Vancouver.
Caulfield
It is in the center of the Eagle Harbour and the Bay ridge. It is one of the most famous and finest family neighborhoods of West Vancouver. In its South, there is the Pacific Ocean and Trans-Canada Highway in the north. Famous Lighthouse Park is on walking distance from most of the Caulfield. Caulfield Elementary School and Rockridge Secondary School are constantly placed in the top 5% schools of British Columbia.
Facts
Till 1930, only forty-eight of West Vancouver’s hundred kilometers roads were paved. After eight years, with the cost of $6 million Lions Gate Bridge was completed. This bridge was financed by the Guinness family. They also financed the properties and development of British properties. West Vancouver was separated from the district municipality of North Vancouver on March 15, 1912. It was then incorporated as a separate city with a population of only 1500 individuals. For the early settlers, it was a vacation destination. It grew in the 20th century. The residents usually went for a picnic in Burrard Inlet and camping in West Vancouver.
