Schools
Peel District Board runs 198 elementary schools and 36 secondary schools with 154,000 students across the city. Davis campus of Sheridan College is the Brampton’s only higher education institute which also owns a campus in Oakville. Davis introduced Killed Trades Center in 2017 for training apprenticeship programs and skilled trades which was previously offered in Oakville. Algoma University at Brampton School of Business & Economics propounds courses at Market Square Business Centre, 24 Queen Street East. Universities in the proximity of Brampton, offering a wide range of subjects, including university of Toronto, Mississauga and York University in North Toronto. Ryerson University, in partnership with Sheridan College, planned to build a new campus in Brampton with an aim of opening in 2022 with $90 million in sponsorship offered by the provincial government in April 2018. But on 23 October 2018, newly selected provincial government cancelled its sponsorship for this plan, effectively cancelling the project. Two important school boards work in Brampton, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board which runs catholic Anglophone public schools and the Peel District School Board which runs secular Anglophone public schools. Under Peel District School Board, working secondary schools are castle brook secondary school, David Suzuki, yurner Fenton, sandalwood heights, Judith Nyman, north park, Mayfield, Louise arbour, heat lake, Harold M. Braithwaite, Fletcher’s meadow, chinguacousy, central peel, Brampton centennial, bramalea, and Jean Augustine, one of the newest.
Hospitals
Brampton Civic Hospital is a part of the William Osler Health System and an acute care center in Brampton. It currently serves almost 500,000 citizens in Brampton and surrounding areas. This hospital can assist 80,000 emergency patient visits.
Peel memorial hospital
Peel Memorial Hospital (PMH) was an acute care hospital present in central Brampton, Ontario. PMH was developed in 1925 and turned into a part of the William Osler Health Centre in 1998. It had roughly served 500,000 citizens in Brampton and the surrounding areas.
