Public schools, Catholic schools, International Baccalaureate (IB) High Schools, Private and Charter Schools all at walking distance from nearby residential areas in Calgary. There are more than two hundred forty schools under the Calgary board of education. Seven areas have schools associated with the Calgary Board of Education including Parkdale Centre, Mount View Centre, Forest Lawn High School, Marlborough Centre, Norman Bethune School, Haysboro Centre, and Cross School. For the faith-based education, Calgary Catholic School District has been offering its services for several years. They have a mission of learning and living in the Catholic faith, that’s why it is educating the children from kindergarten to 12th grade. Private schools are also present in this area that charges tuition and other fees. It has two types i.e. accredited and registered. The Calgary Board of Education (CBE), The Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD), and some private schools also offer French Immersion programs. Hospitals
There are four major adult acute care hospitals in Calgary i.e. Rockyview General Hospital, Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, and Peter Lougheed Centre. Alberta Children’s Hospital is especially for children. All the hospitals in Calgary are working under the Alberta Health Services. There are also medical helicopters for the emergencies that operate under the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society. Other hospitals and health centers include Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre (RRDTC), Grace Women’s Health Centre, Glenmore Auxiliary Hospital, and Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
Public Parks & Community Centers
Heritage Park Historical Village, Fish Creek Provisional Park, Prince’s Park island, Bowness Park, Nose Hill Park, and Confederation Park are some famous parks of the city. There are forty-three parks in Calgary. The thundering steam train and antique midway pass between the Heritage Park Historical Village. It is Canada’s largest living history museum. To offer a historical touch to young residents, there are hundreds of rides, restaurants, shops, exhibits, and daily demonstrations. Fish Creek provisional park has over 54 miles of trails for running, hiking, and biking. It is one of the largest urban wildernesses in the world. The best community centers of the Calgary are Inglewood Community Hall, JCC of Calgary, Glendale Community Association, Varsity community Association, Royal Canadian Legion, and Loft 112. For the healthy, creative, and active living there are permanent Skateparks. There are many indoor facilities in Calgary to swim and play. There are also golf courses and soccer centers here in the city. Calgary Soccer Center offers many indoor and outdoor sports. These include lacrosse, flag football, lawn bowling, ultimate frisbee, soccer, rugby, and bocce ball. There are eight municipal golf courses in the city.
